Acting Premier Paul Lucas and Transport Minister John Mickel announced last week that the proposed Brisbane Western Bypass is not going ahead. They have blamed poor projected traffic usage for the rethink. Instead, they have announced a series of proposed Tunnels and Road Upgrades closer to the city.
These will have a direct impact on the Northside of Brisbane, as most of them cover the Northern Suburbs, such as:
- Tunnel from Toowong to Everton Park
- Tunnel along Stafford Road from Everton Park to Kedron
- Road widening from Stafford to Aspley (Trouts Road).
